Family news about the Lesesne/LeSane family originating in the the area of Sumter, South Carolina. Legacy: Seven kin who were descendants of African slaves previously residing on the Plowden Plantations, did, after the Civil war, take the name Lesesne after trekking miles to get permission from a former plantation owner, a Major Lesesne who was known for his kindness to his slaves. One brother took the name Plowden. It was said the old master cried, when he heard slaves did not want his name

I. am veryhappy to hear aboutthis and hope next year can even participate in where i can as we have also plan one for myrtle beach also thr month of July.
